Course summary

This course will help to prepare teachers/young people working with youth associations and/or municipalities to take on the role of facilitators in the implementation of an intervention that will use an Intersectional Participatory Action Research and Deliberation (IPARD) approach to engage young people in schools and other organisations in transformative change. More specifically, this course will help the participants to:

•          Define and critically reflect about intersectionality and its implications in social inclusion/exclusion processes;

•          Define and use IPARD to inform actions to promote institutional and social change;

•          Identify and use mini-publics and other forms of democratic deliberation to promote young peoples’ civic and political participation.

In the seven sections that make up this course, participants will find relevant theoretical knowledge about the main concepts on which the intervention will be based and suggestions of materials that will assist them in the practical application of the IPARD approach in their school or organisation. Additionally, they will be able to request the support of specialists in the field and to participate in online and offline sessions with them and with peers from their or from other European countries.
